Type: Professional Development system
CPD4MedProfessional is an easy-to-use, secure platform that allows medical professionals to track and record their CPD activities. The system is designed to save time and make CPD compliance straight-forward and easy.
The Details
New CPD requirements introduced by the Australian Medical Board (2023) effectively created an opportunity for someone to develop a better, smarter, CPD recording and tracking system for medical specialists working in Australia.
That 'someone' was our newest client 'ScienceToLife' who took on the project at breakneck speed. For them the challenge was to deploy something of a very high standard, that was largely proven, had real-world history in the medical field, but could also be rolled out within a tight timeframe.
Stream has vast experience in the development of professional development tracking tools and had previously created a much larger CPD system for the New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine (NZCPHM). Based on our CPD platform, this software has been running successfully for several years, providing us with a framework to build the majority of the key components.

Education Activities (Category 1)
The system allows for multiple activity types to be recorded and tracked through an online diary. These include:
- Conferences
- Industry meetings
- Mentoring
- Work groups
- Online learning
- Presentations
- Publications
- And many more...
The system also provides the ability to track progress and provide feedback to users.
Reviewing Performance (Category 2)
The platform caters for a PDP or Professional Development Plan, which is one of the new requirements introduced by the Australian Medical Board. This section allows for the creation of Smart Goals which are designed to help keep professionals on track. There is also a mechanism to state that you have undertaken an annual conversation with an approved colleague or mentor.
The PDP can be downloaded in PDF format, and used as evidence that CPD requirements have been met.
Measuring Outcomes (Category 3)
To measure outcomes CPD4MedProfessional includes a ‘Patient Audit’ feature which allows the practitioner to analyse and reflect on their treatment practices, comparing them against guidelines relevant to their speciality.
Another important feature is the ability to record a CPC (Clinical Pathological Correlation) meeting.
Goals Achieved
All in all this has been an enjoyable project to be involved in, with everyone working collaboratively towards a common goal, the final product is of top quality.
We have succeeded in creating a product that addresses the CPD needs of medical specialists in Australia, we now watch with interest as it grows and develops in this sector.
