The web is filled with sites that need a facelift
Sorry about the bad pun but it holds true, websites have a shelf life! Recently, we undertook the revitalisation of Dr. John Flood's website, a plastic surgeon based in Sydney, Australia. The existing site had grown increasingly challenging to update, resulting in outdated content that lost relevance with its target audience.
The old photos and imagery no longer met the strict standards set by the industry, making most of them unsuitable for reuse. New ones will eventually be sourced and added to the site via the Content Management System (CMS).
To tackle these challenges, we chose to construct a completely new website using our Footprint site builder, departing from the previous WordPress platform. Our strategy involved crafting a clean and user-friendly design, tailored to the needs of small to medium-sized businesses that prefer simplicity over a complex interface.
Determining when it's time for an upgrade:
- The site becomes cumbersome to update.
- There are security risks (WordPress updates must be monitored).
- Site content fails to align with current regulations and policies.
- SEO performance is on the decline, and competitors are gaining ground.
- Branding no longer aligns
Instead of using photographs (which must pass strict regulations) we preferred line drawings overlaid on a watercolour background.
